Wherever you are in the world you can download this superb piece of nature. It gets better when you realize its only a small piece of a totally amazing environmental and ecological area along with all the benefits of Australia's warmth, beaches and lifestyle.
But that's not all, in addition to the UNESCO biosphere reserve status of the Great Sandy area you can access world heritage Fraser island from Rainbow Beach with its own unique coloured sands. If you are an eco tourist this is the place in the world to come to, endorsed and accredited by visitors from around the world .
And if you are into Hang Gliding or Para Gliding there there is no better place with Kilometres of cliff edges making this the home of Australia's annual championships.
Snorkeling and diving? Try Double Island Point.
And how about this for you insect lovers. An unusual animal only found in the Cooloola region is the Cooloola Monster – Cooloola propator, a primitive, cricket-like insect of the order Orthoptera, discovered in Cooloola National Park, Queensland circa 1980. The genus was considered distinct enough to be placed in its own family, the Cooloolidae. It lives almost entirely underground and is believed to feed on other soil-dwelling invertebrates.
Inskip Point (not far from the Carlo Sandblow) is one of the easiest places to see the endangered bird Black Breasted Button Quail.
The heath at Cooloola National Park (just up the road) is a very reliable place to see the Ground Parrot and the Southern Emu Wren .
And then there is the walk to the beautiful perched lake Lake Poona. A perched lake sits above the water table. On the Cooloola sandmass a layer of organic material sits between collected rainwater and the sand to form a crucible that holds the water.
